ClrConscience’s “Strictly 4 My Negus" is an unapologetic dive into the plight of African Americans and a reflection of recent events in his life. Inspired by Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album "To Pimp A butterfly," where Kendrick introduces the term "Negus" to the mainstream and Tupac's 1993 album "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z," the mc/poet addresses his take on the issues that plague African Americans, the effect the black experience had him growing up, and the deep psychological effects of America’s wrongdoing. From tracks like “Open Season ” and “On A Mission,” to “Queen (Thank You, India Arie)” and Heartbeat,” offers an experience for the audience that is sure to be felt. If there’s anything to take away from this project, it’s Clr’s unshakable beliefs and passion for what he does, easily putting himself in a lane of his own right out the gate.
